Ingredients:

Banana blossoms(florets)/vazhaipoo- 1 cup
Gram flour                                       - 1 tbsp 
Green chili                                       - 2
Onion                                               - 1
Garlic                                               - 5 cloves
Ginger                                              -1-inch piece
Rice flour                                          -1 tsp
Fennel seeds                                   - 1 tsp
Salt                                                   - to taste
Lemon juice(optional)                      - 1 tsp
Oil                                                     - to fry

                                    

Procedure:

  1. Take a cup of cleaned florets in a blender. Add onion, chili, garlic, ginger, and fennel seeds to it.
  2. Blend it coarsely and transfer it to a mixing bowl.
  3. Now add a cup of gram flour, and salt to it and mix well.
  4. Make the mixture to small balls.
  5. Dust it with rice flour.
  6. Heat oil in a pan, deep fry the balls in the oil. 

  7. Serve the hot kola balls with sauce or any kind of chutney.

Tips and Tricks:

  1. Fry the kola balls in a medium flame to get it golden brown and as well as to get it cooked.
  2. Dusting the balls in rice flour/ corn flour before frying makes the balls crispy.
  3. Also, you can dip the kola balls in maida(APF) paste and dip in bread crumbs for a crispier snack.
  4. Adjust the spiciness as per your taste.
  5. Add lemon juice to the mixture for a tangy taste, it is completely optional.
  6. For a healthier snack, you can bake it in a preheated oven at 180 degrees celsius for 15- 20 minutes.
