POT#19 BABY CORN STICKS

Baby corn is a cereal grain taken from corn(maize) harvested while the stalks are still small and immature. Baby corn is an extremely nutrient-dense veggie, loaded with fiber, protein, and antioxidants.


Baby corn is common among the stir fry dishes. It takes a common role as a starter/ appetizer. Here is an easy recipe for a crispy starter for your parties and friends, family gatherings.

Let us now check out the required ingredients.

Ingredients:

Baby corn                      - 10
Curd                              - 1/4 cup
Turmeric powder           - 1/4 tsp
Red chili powder           - 3/4 tsp
Garlic (grated)               - 2 cloves
Garam masala powder  - 1 tsp
Lemon juice                   - 1 tsp
Salt                                - 1/2 tsp 
Butter                             - 1 tbsp
Water                             - 1 cup 

Procedure:

  1. Boil a cup of water in a pan. Add the baby corn to the pan and cook for 5 minutes or until it is cooked.
  2. Now in a mixing bowl, add curd, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala.
  3. Also add grated garlic, lemon juice, and salt.
  4. Combine the ingredients well to form a thick paste.
  5. Add the baby corn to the bowl and gently mix them until the baby corn is uniformly well coated with the prepared paste.
  6. Marinate the mixture at least for 20 minutes.
  7. After 20 minutes, heat a pan and melt the butter.
  8. Place the marinated baby corn in the pan and toss them until they are cooked well.
  9. Once the baby corns are cooked, remove them from the pan. Insert the skewers to picks into the baby corn.
  10. Squeeze few drops of lemon and serve the hot crispy baby corn stick along with the sauce/ dip.

Tips and Tricks:

  1. Adjust the spiciness of the dish as per your taste. 
  2. Marinate at least for 20-30 minutes for a rich flavor.
  3. You can add a tbsp of cornflour for crispier baby corn sticks
  4. You can substitute lemon juice with 1 tsp of dry mango powder.
  5. Do not overcook/ over toss the baby corns.
  6. Finally, it tastes good when served hot.
