Let us now check out the required ingredients.

Ingredients:

Basmati rice           - 1 cup
Mushroom              - 200 gms  
Onion                     - 1
Tomato                   - 1 
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder     - 1/2 tsp
Red chili powder     - 2 tsp
Biryani masala        - 1 tbsp
Cumin powder        - 1 tsp
Salt                         - 1 tsp (as required)
Ghee                       - 1 tbsp 
Water                      - 1.5 cups(to cook)+ to soak     
Green chili              - 1 
Bay leaf                  - 1 
Cardamom pods    - 3
Cloves                    - 4
Star anise               - 1
Cinnamon stick       - 1 inch 
Mint leaves             - few leaves
Corriander leaves   - to garnish 

Procedure:

  1. Wash and cut the mushroom into thin slices. Put these mushrooms in a bowl of hot saltwater and keep it aside for 10 minutes.

  2. In meantime, wash and soak 1 cup basmati rice for 20 minutes.

  3. In a pressure cooker add 1 tbsp of ghee and roast the spices well until it leaves an aroma.
  4.  Add green chili to it.

  5. Add finely chopped onion to it and saute until it turns translucent.

  6. Further, add ginger garlic paste to it and later the tomatoes. Saute until tomatoes turn mushy.

  7. Add the drained mushroom to it and saute till it turns translucent.
  8. Add mint leaves to it.

  9. Now add the drained soaked basmati rice and toss it for 2-3 minutes.

  10. Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, biryani masala, and cumin powder to it. Mix well.

  11. Add 1.5 cups of water to it.

  12. Also, add salt to it and give a good stir.

  13. Now pressure cook for about 15 minutes on a low flame.

  14. After 15 minutes, turn off the flame, once the pressure settles down. Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.

  15. Hot, spicy Mushroom biryani is now ready to serve.

Tips and Tricks:

  1. Adjust the spiciness of the dish as per your taste.
  2. Mint leaves are added just to enhance the flavor of the biryani. 
  3. The quantity of water may vary for different brands of basmati rice, check out the required quantity of water required to cook the basmati rice you posses.
  4. Finally, Mushroom biryani tastes great when served hot.
